New owner!

Many things in life have a 7 year’s cycle. 7 years ago, Marije Vogelzang and Piet Hekker have started Proef in Rotterdam. A remarkable interaction between craft and design. In 2006, Proef opened it’s doors in Amsterdam and in 2010 we decided to make the place a real restaurant.
Marije has decided to focus on her work as an eating designer and lies Proef with faith and care in the hands of Piet.
From tuesday the 11th of October 2011 the restaurant will be named Proef Amsterdam B.V.
The concept will remain the same in essence and will be developed in a way to make it bloom even more.
The collaboration between Piet and Marije will not find it’s ending here. Behind the scenes, Marije will continue supporting the restaurant as Hekker and Vogelzang will also develop new projects in the future.

This time they cook summer dishes from Tunisia, Lebanon, Andalucia, Catalunya, Turkey and Morocco. Get seduced by the special taste of Arabia!

Warm and tastefull Arabia nights in Proef

The Arabia evenings at Proef by Nadia Zerouali & Merijn Tol, authors of cookbooks & Bismilla Arabia were a huge success!
4 Monday evenings in November guests braved the cold and even snow to enter into a Mediterranean atmosphere with lively music and delicious cuisine. The party was complete on the 29th with the presence of Kamal Mouzawak of Souk el Tayeb organic farmers market in Beirut. Since all nights were booked very fast, we decided to continue this initiative , especially in the coming cold winter months. Keep an eye on the website for more news!

Proef Arabia

A Monday night in November is not particularly thrilling (at least not in Holland). Nadia Zerouali & Merijn Tol, authors of the cookbooks Arabia & Bismilla Arabia (now available in stores) will turn this somewhat boring weeknights into fabulous fiesta’s at Proef. Try every spice and flavour from Bismilla Arabia in lovely dishes as herby ‘Kisir salad’, spicy ‘Pistachio spread’, roasted ‘Eggplant with soft cream cheese and capers’, and sweet couscous. Marije Vogelzang traveled with Nadia and Merijn to one of their projects in Lebanon and plotted this collaboration. We will end our Proef Arabia nights on the 29th November with a special guest: Kamal Mouzawak of the organic farmer market Souk el Tayeb in Beirut and the ‘in-market’ restaurant Tawlet. Bismilla!.

On Bismilla nights our guests can try a new tea from the WAAR store, with the name Mr Jones. We are very curious why it tastes so good! And just like every other night you will receive a WAAR goodie bag.

A sensational November evening at Proef (as supposed to a dorky Monday night watching television) can only be reserved via reserveer@proefamsterdam.nl.

Proef is going to cook with fairtrade products from the (o so cute) WAAR stores (check www.ditiswaar.nl). And every month you can try a product yourself at the park. Why? Well, simply to make the world a much fairer place and we are very curious to see if you like the products. When you are ready to leave us, you will also get a surprising fairtrade treat to take home (because there is nothing wrong with a little present that makes YOU happy).
